Hammamet

Hammamet, Tunisia’s original tourist resort, has mile after mile of wonderful sandy beaches and aside from tourism it is famous for Jasmine.

Due to it’s popularity, during high season it becomes somewhat of a bustling place to stay although it is certainly still possible to enjoy a relaxing holiday here even with the season at it’s peak.

Accommodation in Hammamet
There is plenty of good accommodation in Hammamet, some of the best deals being in the mid-range sector. There are plenty of options for anyone seeking something luxurious, far less so for those on a very tight budget – although if you are really strapped for cash there are two camping grounds.

It is important to be aware that during high season much of Hammamet’s accommodation is taken up by package tourism, leaving little for the independent traveler. Many Hammamet hotels close for the winter season.

Things to do in Hammamet
Many visitors come mainly to enjoy the beach and water related activities like swimming and surfing, but there are plenty of other things to see & do. If you have the time, why not explore the medina and the old town – it’s a great place to wander.

The fort is well worth a visit and will reward you with some fantastic views. In the evening there is plenty of entertainment and the nightlife carries on until the early hours of the morning.

Although it can be busy, Hammamet remains Tunisia’s premier resort area and is a joy to visit.
